COVID-19 Response

Hey there Lighthouse Family!

We are in an interesting time as a Church as we haven’t been able to meet together for a few months now and have expanded our presence and reach on Social Media platforms. Even though we have not been able to meet physically, Lighthouse Church has been actively involved in providing food parcels to the vulnerable and those in need through partnering with local Churches to help people survive this challenging time. We have also been able to reach, counsel and take care of people’s spiritual needs through Life groups meeting online weekly and through our WhatsApp prayer support.

We celebrate President Ramaphosa’s statement that Government recognises that Churches are an Essential Service and may resume services. This indicates that they recognise the role that Church has in the upliftment, counselling, and guidance to the people in our nation especially during such a difficult time. As much as we want to have fellowship, see you face to face and worship together, we believe that it would be
premature to open the doors for only 50 people during Stage 3 of the Lockdown.

We have decided that in this season, we cannot open to only 50 people when we have thousands to minister to. With the protocols and procedures we would have to have in place in order to open, we believe it is better to continue having services online until the danger of COVID-19 passes and restrictions allow us to have more freedom to gather.

We celebrate that we will have the freedom to do the following:

  1. Staff are able to start working again.
  2. We will have a fuller band for ONLINE worship.
  3. Counselling will continue for all who need guidance.
  4. New Life (Addiction support programme) will begin meeting again.
  5. Food parcels and distribution to those in need will continue to a greater degree.

We would like to thank you for your generous support of encouragement during this time as it represents family and how we can support one another as a team. We also want to thank those who have given of their finances, especially when there are financial challenges. There are incredible testimonies of God providing in supernatural ways as well as salvations, healings and God being glorified through your generosity.

Thank you for allowing us to continue to do the work!

We continue to pray for you, our city and our nation during this Lockdown.

And lastly

Something we have to remember is that this has not caught God by surprise, He works all things for the good of those who love Him. God is the final authority in this, there is a great plan behind this. We trust that this will have an amazing testimony and that something amazing is going to come out of this.

The secret to beating this is 217

2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Covid is creating this incredible fear and sense of loss even before it touches us directly. But God's spirit encourages us to not fear this, but in the face of adversity to have the understanding that we are powerful, we are loved and He wants to give us a sound mind so that fear doesn't consume us.

To beat this, declare 2 Timothy 1:7 over yourself and your family. We do not get affected by fear but we're driven by love, full of power because we are in our sound minds.
